Missing Memphis

Not only was Heliopolis missing, so was Memphis.

Memphis was the old capital of Egypt. It was supposed to have been situated a little above the modern city of Cairo. German Egyptologist Adolph Erman wrote “It has entirely disappeared… utterly vanished.” p. 86

Memphis was regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World for its dams and water causeways to build Memphis as an island in an inner sea.

This sea, in ancient Egyptian writings, was called “Ta-She”. The Aztecs knew this lake as “TESHEE-KOKO”, or today’s Texcoco. Historian William Prescott has a map showing the Aztec capital centered in an island on this lake, with all the walls, canals, and wonders described for the missing “Memphis”.
